1 Sympatholytic drugs.
They inhibit the Central Nervous System and is also known as sympatholytics. They bind to adrenergic receptors then inhibit /block stimulation by the sympathetic nervous system. They are classified by th type of adrenergic receptor they block.
2 Nor epinephrine
They acts directly and by the release of norepi-nephrine from sympathetic nerve terminals;mediates dilation of vessels in the renal and splanchnic beds to maintain renal perfusion while stimulating the sympathetic response.
3 Hypoglycaemia
Drugs should be cautioned in patients with diabetes because disorder could be excaberated by the blocked sympathetic response and because the usual signs and symptoms of hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia are masked with CNS blockade.
4 Post-synaptic
They block the post-synaptic alpha1-receptor sites, causing a decrease in vascular tone and a vasodilation that leads to a fall in blood pressure.
