Lyme disease is a disease which is mainly caused by a corkscrew shaped bacteria known as - borrelia burgdorferi (spirochete). It has also been known as a great imitator because the same gns and symptoms of this disease is fairly similar or mimic of the symptoms of other disease.

The early signs and symptoms begins after some days or weeks of infection by the ticks and spreads rapidly in the body. The major symptoms are similar to that of flu like:

- chills and fever

- headache

- muscle pain

- joint pain

- general feeling of illness

- neck stiffness

- rashes known as erythema migrans

The major reason for the increase in the prevalence rate of the disease in United States is due to seasonal variations that has occured throughout the northern side. These changes are thought to be related with the "global climate change". Rapid change or increase in the temperature in a particular area, changes in the pattern of the precipitation, weather extremely increasing, and the rise in the level of the sea are all the factors that facilitates the life cycle, distribution, and the prevalence rate of the diseases which are considered as vector borne and changes in the availability of the habitat and the rate of the reproduction causing immense increase in the prevalence of the Lyme disease in United States.
