#. Homeopathy

The term homeopathy was used by the founder Dr. Samuel Hanhanemann based on the words pathos which means suffering and home which means similar. This refers to the treatment of disorders with materials that will cause similar symptoms in a healthy person. He used the term Allopathy to refer to other forms of treatment. This is the main western medical practice and refers to a system of therapy which treats by producing a condition that is not compatible with the disease state (example- use of antibiotics to cure bacterial infection.

#. Basic Principles

-Three basic principles were developed by Hahnemann and a fourth was added in the period of 1865-1875 by Dr. Constantine Hering.

1) Law of Similars- like cures like means if a substance can cause symptoms in a healthy person , than it can stimulate self -healing of similar pathological symptoms in a sick individual .

2) Law of Infinitesimal (minimal) Dose- very low doses are used

3) Law of Fit of the Remedy to the individual- the remedy must correspond to the symptoms

4) Hering's Law of Cures- the cure follows the movement of the symptoms during recovery
