Should prisoners lose their right to vote in elections? At first glance at the sentence, the majority of readers will lean towards the response of yes; they should. After doing research, I believe prisoners should not lose their rights to vote because 1)Disenfranchisement against prisoners can be a disruption towards their rehabilitation to rejoin society. 2)Prisoners lose their freedom but not their fundamental human rights. 3) All voices matter, including prisoners, it is fundamental to democracy.
i clicked economics because it was the only subject most related to it, can you please come up with 3 points to support my 3rd topic? i did research surrounding the strain theory and how counter productive stigmatization of ex offenders leads to repeating crimes and how its hard enough for them to rejoin society. i am just in a rut! i just need 3 strong points, point form is fine. and if u have any other opinions or info feel free to add it!

Prisoners should not lose their rights to vote because:

1. The society has been cruel to them at some or the other point of time which lead to them becoming criminals/ offenders of law and ultimately landing in prisons. However, given that society wasn't perfect either at the first place, the prisoners deserve an equal right to vote.

2. One time offender does not become an irrational person just because he has been irrational for once due to which he/ she landed in prison. Thus, prisoners are also rational human beings and should be given their fundamental rights such as right to vote.

3. A miniscule crime such as stealing bread is morally as incorrect as a large crime such as murder. However, all these have different levels of punishments under the law..They are to be treated and punished at the same time so that they do not commit "that" crime again in future. Taking away their right to vote can never be a way of making them realize that such a crime should not be repeated again.
