Question1: why is it necessary for hospital to use special codes for fire, disasters and cardiac arrest?

Answer: By having specific codes, healthcare personnel will know exactly what is going on without any further explanation. This allows them to prepare for appropriate action as quickly as possible. It also increases patient safety as well as workers' safety. In addition, this minimizes the potential for confusion or miscommunication.

Question 2: A- What would be your next action?

Answer: The tingling sensation could be because of electric shock associated with the IV pump. the nurse will check the IV pump for any broken part in the wiring and will change the IV pump and will report this incident to hospital safety department.

B: Why??

This needs to be done because it may cause harm to the patient later on . The IV pump needs to be corrected or repaired.

Question 3: Corrective measures for safety hazards

A. Water on the Floor:

if there is water on the floor , immediately put the wet floor sign and call a house keeping staff to clean it ,to prevent slip, trip and fall.

B. Patient found with bed rails down:

if the patient is at risk of fall and cannot get out of bed without help , then the nurse would immediately put the bed rails up and will notify other staffs about the incident and to pay extra attention to the patient.if the patient is not at risk then their is no harm in  in keeping the bed rails down.

C. Patient who is using nasal oxygen being transported to MRI:

The oxygen tank of such Patient should be labelled as NON-MAGNETIC. A nurse should check for the label,also notify the radiographer about the patient health condition.

Answer: The Nurse will use a 5 Rs rule to correctly administer the drug or treatment:

The right patient

The right drug,

The right time,

The right dose,

and the right route.
