Answer #1

Young children are just learning how to eat food properly. They don't know to chew and swallow the foods properly and their airway as well as food passages are small. So they are at high risk of choking. The main foods causing choking are:

  • hard and small foods that are not easy to bite and chew like raw carrot, apple, nuts etc
  • round and small foods which get stuck in the throat like raisins, grapes, peas, small seeds berries etc
  • foods that can be squeezed like sausage, meat piece, popcorn etc. They squeeze inside the throat and block the airway.
  • thick pastes which stick to child's throat like peanut butter and cheese spreads
  • foods which are fibrous and lanky that child can't chew like celery, raw pineapple etc.

In the question, the answer is fourth option, that is all the answers are correct
