5. In pharmacology, an agonist is the drug that binds to receptors in the absence of actual chemical (that binds to receptor) and activates the receptor for its function.

6. drug agonists bind to receptor to activate a cascade of events to perform a cell function. Drug activates the receptor to perform its function.

Hence, the statement – drugs can bind to receptors and block receptor activation by other agents is a wrong statement by the student. Drug-receptor binding promotes activation of cell function.
