Therapeutic communication is a type of communication which takes place between the health care memebers and the patient which is used inorder to promote the wellbeing of the patient by the healthcare memebers.

3. The therapeutic communication techniques are as follows:

A. Active listening: eg. Using verbal and non verbal cues while interacting such as nodding or saying ' l see' will make the patient think that the nurse is interested in listening to their complaints.

B. Providing or giving broad openings: this may give a chance to the patient to talk about the things he wants to without restriction of answers from the question of the nurse. Eg. The nurse may open or start a conversation with questions like ' What would you like to talk about today?'

C. Keeping silence: sometimes being silent and not conversing can also help both the patient as well as the nurse to understand the activities used on patient for his care. Eg. Being silent will help them trust eachother in their work and give a sense of peace.

4. Non therapeutic communication techniques are:

A. Advising: sometimes the nurse can advice the patient on how to do things and so on. Eg. On how to do exercises for a particular purpose.

B. Opposing the ideas which the patient has put up. Eg. Giving idea of getting discharge when still needed the medical attention.

C. Interpreting: telling the patient what exactly you mean to say and no confusions should be made among them. Eg. About the diagnosis and the treatment should be explained exactly how you have got the information.
