ANSWER:

Blood clots also called as THROMBUS, in the step of the blood pooling blood clot is the end product of the blood coagulation.There are two components in the blood clots a cluster of cross lined mesh protein and the aggregated red blood cells and platelets.

The ways to prevent the blood clots are as,

ANTI-COAGULANTS DRUGS

Heparin, warfarin, apixaban are the many of the drugs which are used to prevent the formation of blood clots.

IDENTIFICATION OF EARLY RISK FACTORS:

  Risk factors such as:

  • Obese persons
  • History of previous blood clots
  • Clients taking hormonal therapy for birth control
  • Previous history of Deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism
  • Any major surgery
  • Family history of Venous thromboembolus
  • Stroke or paralyzed clients

are having the risk for developing the blood clots.So identifying the risk factors is essential and starting the appropriate Anti-coagulants therapy according to the physician order.

STOCKINGS:

  Usage of stockings will prevent the blood clot. For the clients with Deep vein thrombosis and varicose vein the stocking will prevent the blood stasis by proving compression to the damaged vein.

Sequential compression devices are also there it squeezes the leg.It also highly manage the prevention of blood clots.

OTHER PREVENTIVE MEASURES:

  • Don't wear tight fitting clothes such as leggings, jeans or other tight clothing it aggrevates the condition. Always use stockings at the appropriate pressure.
  • Scraping or hurting the bump should be avoided to prevent the damage of veins.
  • Daily exercise is essential.
  • The bottom of the bed should be raised to avoid the blood pooling in the peripheries.
  • Avoid resting the leg for too long time and also avoid standing for prolonged duration.
  • Frequent changing of position is essential.
