Prescribed heparin= 15 units/kg/hr

Weight of the client= 72 kg

As per weight of the client required dose= 15X 72= 1080 units/hr

Available heparin= 25,000 units in 500 ml

Means 25000/50= 50 units per ml

Hence for 1080 units it is= 1080/50= 21.6 ml

Hence 21.6 ml/hr should be the flow rate in ml/hr that the nurse should administered as per the prescribed dosing.
