Answer #1

Here is a list of some major foreign stock exchanges with their country/Region :

  • Japan stock exchange - Japan
  • Shanghai stock exchange - China
  • Hong Kong stock exchange - Hong Kong
  • Euronext - European union
  • London stock exchange - United Kingdom
  • Bombay Stock exchange - India

Yes, it is important to follow returns of these foreign stock exchanges for an U.S. investor due to following reasons :

  1. Investors get to know about high emerging markets which might generate more returns than U.S. markets.
  2. Diversification: International investing may help U.S. investors to spread their investment risk among foreign markets and firms in addition to that of U.S.
  3. Following and investing in foreign stock exchanges gives U.S. investors the potential for better risk-adjusted portfolio returns.
