Based upon the major theories, recurring themes, and traditional influences on U.S. foreign policy, what approach do you see U.S. policy pursuing in the future? Explain.
Initially US was only worried about establishing itself as a nation and didn’t involve in the business of other countries. At the end of the 19th century, US adopted the imperialistic policy with which it started involving in other countries with the end of the second World War it became a superpower. The cold war between the US and the Soviet Union made it establish more military and support unit for its capitalist economy in the name of protecting democracy. However, with the fall of Soviet Union, US started exploiting the Arab nations for the oil resources through various gulf wars. However, today US is not as aggressive as it was before because it has come to understand that there are other countries that would be as powerful as it is in terms of military and economy. It has made its foreign policies to be very diplomatic and lenient and not very strict. Although, it waged few wars in the name of controlling terrorism, it has given up that idea too. There are issues at home such as economic issues, unemployment, poverty, racial discrimination etc. that US need to work on in order to avoid another civil war.
