7. Gynecoid pelvis - a gynecoid pelvis is oval at the inlet, has a generous capacity and wide subpubic arch. This is the classical or typical female pelvis . Ideal of vaginal delivery.

8.Pelvic examination :-

External visual exam - in this the physician looks at your vulva, checking for irritation, redness, sores, swelling or other abnormalities.

Internal visual exam- physician uses a speculum — a plastic or metal-hinged instrument shaped like a duck's bill — to spread open your vaginal walls and see your birth canal and cervix.

Pap test- in this the physician will swipe a small wand to collect a sample of your cervical cells before removing the speculum.

Physical examination - physician will insert gloved fingers into your birth canal with one hand, while the other hand presses gently on the outside of your lower abdomen and check the size and shape of your uterus and ovaries, noting any tender areas or unusual growths.

The specimens that are important to obtain when pelvic examination are done is vaginal secretions , cervical smear etc.
