Inorganic matter like silt etc provide space for microorganisms to grow on it and use it like a shield to protect themselves from the disinfectant. So microorganisms will sustain the dose of disinfectant if Inorganic matter is present in the water, hence it is necessary to remove the Inorganic matter from water before disinfecting it.
