Answer #1

Given,

Probabilistic function Pf = 200 kips

co efficient of variation = 0.12

Demand mean, L = 100 kips

Standard deviation = 40 kips

Pf = 1 - N (−\beta) and \beta is the reliability index.

200/100 = -\beta

\beta = - 2 x .12

= 0.24

    Solve question 4 3) Assume a component has a normal strength distribution that deteriorates with use over time so that mean strength is μΧ(t) 400-001t and the standard deviation in strength increases over time according to ơx(t) = 15 + 0.004. If this component is subjected to normally distributed stress with mean -375 and standard deviation o,,-16, find the component's reliability for a time interval starting at zero and extending up to 1,500 hrs. 4)Following up the previous problem, assume...

    A. Introduction and Objective Every test has at least two sources of variation that affect the results of the test. The first source of variation is due to the experimental procedure, such as using two different testing machines that have different calibrations, or different observers reading the same equipment differently. This type of variation is often called the experimental error The second source of variation is inherent in the specimens (or sample population) themselves. In other words, no two specimens...
