Answer #1

D) Answer is ii). This molecule don't contain ether functional group which is (O-R). But it contain double bond (Alkene), triple bond (Alkyne), ester (COOR), thiol (SH) and Amide (CONH).

E) Answer is v).

Thus molecule don't have Quaternary carbon which means a carbon which is attached to four carbons further.

F) Answer is III).

Molecule a) is hydrophilic due to the presence of OH group whereas b) is hydrophobic because it contain nonpolar side chains.

G) Answer is iv).

Both molecules have conjugated π-system as they have double bond or triple bond separated by a single bond.

W) Answer is III).

In R/S nomenclature, groups attached to chiral carbon are numbered in order of their mass. A group with high mass is numbered as 1 and with least as 4. It rotation from 1 to 3 is clockwise then it R if group numbered 4 is below the plane (dashed bond). If rotation from 1 to 3 is anticlockwise then it is S if group numbered as 4 is below the plane and R if it is above the plane.

X) Answer is III).

In both a) and b), higher priority groups are on opposite sides thus they are E).

Y) Answer is III). Because both are stereoisomers but don't have mirror image relationship thus they are diastereomers.

AA) Amide on Hydrolysis give Carboxylic acid.
