standard deviation = $\sigma$ = 3

x = 80

z = (x - $\mu$ ) / $\sigma$

= ( 80 - 75 ) / 3

= 1.67

For Spanish quiz,

mean = $\mu$ = 10

standard deviation = $\sigma$ = 1.1

x = 12

z = (x - $\mu$ ) / $\sigma$

= ( 12 - 10 ) / 1.1

= 1.82
