Operating system basically has a lack in its file finding and the complete difference is been stated below

  1. As operating systems files do not provide any datatypes of the data that each file contains.(data type, attribute and record delimiters, parsing).where as in databases we have meta data in which they store so that u can query as data.
  2. Every time when you access the file that is placed in a certain way you will have to implement the logic to open, parse, seek, compare required while in Databases we use a SQL which can access databases and can remove all the requirement from your application.
  3. In operating system  file does not support locking where as in database it allow multipleapplications so they can make changes to the same file.
