Answer #1

Basicall ther are two types of electrical supplies

1) AC Supply 2) DC Supply

There are diffrent types of sources of electricity, some are AC sources and some are DC sources, we use these sources depends on our load specifications and requirements ( AC loads and DC loads)

AC Sources

Ex: Alternators( AC Generators)

DC Sources

Ex: Batteries, Fuell Cells and Solar cells and DC generators

All above sources supplies DC power but different in physical construction and operation priniciple

Note: It electrical enegineering there is a provision to convert AC power to DC Power and vice versa, It depends on practical requirements...

a) Battery Power: Mainly battery power is important in house hold inverter applications, In general batteries are specified by Ampere Hours(Battery capacity-Ah) and voltage.

Battery backup depends on three factors

1) Battery Capacity 2) Power Consumption(Usage of Load) 3) Volatage of battery

Battery Capacity(Ah)= (Power Consumption in watts)* (Battery backup time in watts) / (Battery Voltage)

For Example we have 600 watts of load, need to run on inverter power for 3 hours (Back Up time)

Most of the batteries voltage is 12V

Battery Capacity = (600)*(3)/12=150 Ah So, If we want to run 600 watts of load by inverter for 3 hours we require 150 Ah,12 V Battery

Therefore battery power (Battery Capcity) need to consider where we require to know backup time for our specified load consumption

b) AC Power: AC Power Stands for alternating power, It can be generated by alternators(AC Generators). We Consider AC power where source of supply is alternating nature i.e AC supply

c) Solar Power: Solar power is nothing but conversion from electricity from sun light by using solar pannels, basically it is a DC power

d) Fuell Cell: Fuell cell also DC source as like battery but it differs from construction.Fuell cell is a device that convetrs chemical potential energy in to electrical energy,on other hand fuell cell takes a fuel (hydrogen) and it combinding with oxygen produces unenending supply of electrical energy. Generally we use fuell cells in electrical vehicles

Note: Battery supplies power for limted time i.e we need to replace battery with new one but fuell cell supplies power continously as long as if you pump input fuel.

e) Thermal Transfer: It means transfer of heat from one substance to other substance.... Heat transfer can be possible by theree ways. This concept is very important in thermal enegneering

1) Conduction: Heat transfer via solid materials

Ex: If you touch hot cup of coffee by your hand

2) Convection: Heat transfer in liquids and gases

Ex: You feel much cold in water at 250 than in air of 250

3) Radiation

Ex: You can feel hot when your standing close to fire I.e heat is transfer from fire to you through air

f) Kinetic Energy: Energy can be transferred from one object to another when reaction takes place, energy can be transferred in many forms as heat, light and motion. In all automobiles kinetic energy transferred from engine to wheels. we need to consider kinetic energy where object is moving

g) Hand Crank: A crank that is turned by hand, It is important  where we require to give mechnical energy manually( By means of our hand)
