The June solstice occurs around June 21 in which Sun is over the Tropic of Cancer.

The December solstice occurs around December 21 when sun is overhead the Tropic of Capricorn.

Northern Hemisphere when it is called as longest day of the year, the June solstice is known as the summer solstice.

On the other hand, in the Southern Hemisphere, when it is called as the shortest day of the year, it is called as the winter solstice.
