given, length of wire (L) = 1.00 m

frequency of vibration (f) = 220 Hz

let, v be the speed of sound on the string

now, we know that, f = v / 2L

or, v = 2 L f = 2 x 1 x 220 = 440 m/s

hence, the speed of sound on the string is 440 m/s.
