With effective resource planning, organizations can reduce inventory and service costs, improve efficiencies, and establish methods for continuous improvement. Depending upon the type of resource, there is a different type of planning that must take place. This can include material requirements planning (MRP), capacity requirements planning (CRP), enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM), supply chain management (SCM), or product lifecycle management (PLM).

Research two specific types of resource planning.

Based on your research, explain whether or not you believe ERP and MRP are the only resource planning processes applicable to manufactured processes.

Can either ERP or MRP be used for service industries or can they only be used for manufacturing organizations?

Enterprise Resource Planning and material requirements planning are two most essential parts of the Planning process for any organisation this is specific processes of organisational planning directly increases their adaptability towards different factors which directly increases the overall possibilities of an organisation to be more Proactive towards getting better outcome of the manufacturing process.

Implementation of other planning methods such as continuous improvement as well as capacity requirement planning for customer relationship management can also be implemented in manufacturing process as this type of planning provide adequate support it to the availability of suppliers as well as other marketing factors that could heavily increase the quality of manufacturing process that is involved in the specific operational environment. As a basic requirement of such a specific condition, maintaining better relationship with the customer increases the chances of adopting continuous improvement process for manufacturing according to the requirements of the market.

Looking at the other factors we can say that implementation of other planning processes in the manufacturing process is as essential as ERP as well as MRP implementation. This type of approach directly increases the overall adaptability of the specific manufacturing process and create a positive impact on their overall serviceability in the respective segment of operation.

Definitely enterprise resource planning as well as material requirements Planning can be used in the service industry. All other services industry required different materials to function properly where this type of implementation of planning process would increase their adaptability in the respective market segment and benefit the organisation by a huge margin. This type of approach does not only increases the chances of getting better outcome of service provision but also enhance is capabilities of an organisation to take the feedback from the customer or the supplier and to increase the chances of creating a more effective supply chain benefiting the organisation in a very positive manner.
