Why do you think that modern Indian families might still be convinced to kill for the Goddess? Why listen to the tantric holy men, and what do they think will be the benefit?

Almost all the Hindu families in the Indian subcontinent are very devoted Hindus who would defend their religious ideologies in any way. Although much has changed about the way Indians viewed religions and overcame lots of superstitions, there are still many people who are very reluctant about practicing the rituals and demands of the gods that is placed through the priests or Poojaris. They interpret the messages and deceive or make people believe that god spoke through them. Thus, today priests are leading a sophisticated life while the poor people who listen to them remain in the same state. This influence of the priests and their selfish nature is one of the paramount reasons for the human sacrifice to take place. People blindly believe whatever the priests tell them such as killing a family member would be better for the entire family or sacrificing an infant during the full moon day would fetch good things or supernatural powers. However, this is punishable by law and the number of incidents are really less but animal sacrifice in various parts of the country is a regular practice.
