recrystallisation is necessary during solvent extraction to obtain the compound in pure state without any impurities.

in order to recrystallise a compound you must firstly have to select a solvent that is able to dissolve the compound , then it must be heated with the solvent and then filtered hot so that the soluble comound passes in the filterate and the impurities are seperated. the pure crystals of compound are obtained as the filterate cools .

the choise of the solvent used to dissolve the compound must be such that it doesnot dissolve the compound at room temperature.
