Question

7. A researcher has estimated a linear model to study the effect of weekly household income i (in S100) on weekly household expenditure on food yi (in S). Using a sample of size N- 40, she found that Vi=83.42 + 10.21피, R2-0.384 43.41) (2.09) у)-500.000 and the sample mean of zi is 19.605. Choose the wrong and statement. (Vi (a) The estimated variance of the slope estimator is (2.09)2. (b) The standard deviation of the intercept coefficient is 43.41. Answer! (c) We would reject Ho : the slope parameter is zero at 5% level. (d) If a household has a weekly income of 1000 dollars, the food expenditure would be 83.42 10.21 x 10 with some uncertainty. (e) The sample correlation coefficient between the household income and the house- hold expenditure on food is positive.

Can anyone explain Why that is wrong?

Answer #1

here this is estimation of standard deviation for the intercept estimator as it is based upon sample and not population ; sample gives estimated value(statistic ) while population gives paramter value.
