Answer #1

Y∼N (67, 44)

The formula to calculate the value of Z is given below:

Z= Y−μy / σy

Substitute the values in above mentioned formula.

Z= (Y−67)/ √44

(a)

The Pr(Y<88)

can be calculated as follows.

Pr(Y< 88)=Pr(Z < (88 −67)/ √44)

= Pr(Z< 3.1659)= 1.000 ( from Z table)

Ans is c) 1.000

b)

The Pr( 90 <Y< 92)

can be calculated as follows.

Pr(90<Y<92) = Pr(Y<92)−Pr(Y<90)

=Pr(Z< ( 92− 67) / √44) − Pr(Z<(90-67)/√44) = Pr( Z < 3.7689 ) −Pr( Z < 3.4674) = 1- 1 = 0.0000

Therefore, Pr( 90 <Y< 92) is 0.0000
