But, whatever that may be, average rate of change is found by dividing the change with the length of the interval.

The length of the interval is determined by subtracting the starting value from the final value. Accordingly, the length of the interval in each case would be as follows:

7. 0-(-6) =6

8. 2-(-2) =4

9. 6 - 2 = 4

10. 2-(-4)=6
