Discussion: Should Society Use Mind-Altering Drugs to Make People Feel Better? Some psychoactive drugs have been used for medical purposes-for example, marijuana has been used to counter the side effects of chemotherapy treatments for cancer patients and opioids have been used to relieve severe pain. Some people advocated taking drugs simply to feel better. Are people more likely to be helped or harmed if they were able to take mind-altering drugs legally? Is it a good idea to attempt to alter one's mood through the use of psychoactive drugs?

Answer. A lot of doctors and professionals prescribe a specified amount of drugs like marijuana. Sometimes it’s necessary to give such drugs to patients with severe conditions. These drugs should be used if condition of patient is very severe and only during emergency situations.
Doctors should avoid using such drugs but if necessary , they should use as per the legal norms.

It is not a good idea to alter ones mood through the use of psychoactive drugs. But sometimes when there is no other substitute , doctors have to prescribe such drugs to patients. But it is advisable that counselling  should be done with the treatment.
