Answer #1

The Big Bang theory is a cosmological model of the observable universe from the earliest known periods through its subsequent large-scale evolution. The model describes how the universe expanded from an initial state of very high density and high temperature,[4] and offers a comprehensive explanation for a broad range of observed phenomena, including the abundance of light elements, the cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation, large-scale structure, and Hubble's law – the farther away galaxies are, the faster they are moving away from Earth.

"dark night sky paradox", is the argument that the darkness of the night sky conflicts with the assumption of an infinite and eternal static universe. In the hypothetical case that the universe is static, homogeneous at a large scale, and populated by an infinite number of stars, then any line of sight from Earth must end at the (very bright) surface of a star and hence the night sky should be completely illuminated and very bright. This contradicts the observed darkness and non-uniformity of the night. The darkness of the night sky is one of the pieces of evidence for a dynamic universe, such as the Big Bang model.Cepheid variables could be found from BB theory

The "classic" Big Bang theory explains that the Universe was originally very hot and very dense and that this leads to some clear predictions that have been experimentally verified. However, there were some observed properties of the Universe that the classic Big Bang theory couldn't explain. Explaining these additional properties of the Universe required the development of the model of cosmic inflation in the 1980s, which has some additional predictions we are attempting to verify with experiments today. What properties of...

In the present theory of the Big Bang, what significant event occurred at about 400,000 years after the universe started expanding? The primordial helium in the universe was produced. The universe became transparent to neutrinos. The temperature of the cosmic background radiation had cooled to its present level of about 3 K. The universe became transparent to photons of radiation.

9/ the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to 3 men who study white dwarf supernova explosions, which are known as Type la supernovae. The following problem is designed to give you a feel for what they did, and the sorts of apparent brightnesses and distances they were working with. A typical Type la supernova explosion has a luminosity of 1.72 x 10^36 W. If we observe such a supernova to have an apparent brightness of 1.25 x 10^-17...
