Question

The classic Big Bang theory explains that the Universe was originally very hot and very dense and that this leads to some clear predictions that have been experimentally verified. However, there were some observed properties of the Universe that the classic Big Bang theory couldnt explain. Explaining these additional properties of the Universe required the development of the model of cosmic inflation in the 1980s, which has some additional predictions we are attempting to verify with experiments today. What properties of the Universe can we explain with classic Big Bang theory and which do we explain by adding a very early period of cosmic inflation? Answer #1

Classic Big Bang theory- Existence of cosmic microwave background, amount of hydrogen vs helium, Expansion of universe.

Big Bang +Inflation-uniformity of CMB, density is very close to critical density

Neither- Dark Energy (dark energy is still unknown form of matter, which is still unexplained)

I will be glad to see your comment if you have any query and thumb up if you are satisfied. Thanks...

Within the first second after the Big Bang the universe was filled with high-energy, gamma-ray photons. These photons created huge numbers of elementary particles and their antiparticles through pair production. What happened to these particles? They are still here. They combined to create the first atoms and molecules that compose the physical universe. The particles are still with us as atoms and molecules, but almost all of the antiparticles disappeared. These particle-antiparticle pairs annihilated to produce more photons. This pair...

9/ the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to 3 men who study white dwarf supernova explosions, which are known as Type la supernovae. The following problem is designed to give you a feel for what they did, and the sorts of apparent brightnesses and distances they were working with. A typical Type la supernova explosion has a luminosity of 1.72 x 10^36 W. If we observe such a supernova to have an apparent brightness of 1.25 x 10^-17...
