A series RLC circuit is used to tune to a specific radio frequency for FM radio station. Assume that the RLC tuner has a width of resonance as narrow as ±0.15MHz and a quality factor of 310. the value of the resistor, R = 2358 ohm.

(i) Calculate the inductor, L and capacitor, C.

(ii) Determine your resonant frequency, f0.

(iii) What is the nearest FM radio station that can be tuned by your RLC circuit at your city. explain Why?

(iv) Assume that you change your resistance to other value, observe and explain what happen to your resonant frequency, f0.

(iii) By using this RLC circuit we can tuned 46.5M Hz frequency channel.

  General Electric stations New Scotland and Schenectady and , New York— frequency modulation transmitters on 48.5 MHz. which nearer to 46.5MHz

(iv) If resistance value change, the resonant frequency not changes. because resonant frequency not dependent on resistance value. But band width changes . bans width is proportional to resistance value. if resistance increases band width also increases and quality factor decreases. so quality of receiving signal also decreases.
