Answer #1

Taking moment about pivot point,

(-mg/2) - (Mg/2) + T sin(phi) = 0

Sin(phi) = (m + M) g/2T

Height, h = 2.3 tan(phi) = 2.3 tan[arcsin ((m + M) g/2T) ]

h = 2.3 tan[arcsin ((51 + 8.3) x 9.8/2 x 720) ] = 1.01 m

    11. (14 points) A 1000 N sign mounted on the side of a building is suspended from a horizontal rigid rod 1.5 m long, which is supported at one end by the building, and at the other by a steel cable which makes an angle of 40° with the horizontal. The sign is hung from the rod at a point 1 m from the wall. The end attached to the wall is free to pivot. If the weight of the...

    We have a restaurant sign that weighs 150N and we will hang it using a beam and a cable as shown in the figure. The mass of the beam is uniform and its weight is 50N. We do not know the length of the beam (express it as L). The cable has no mass, and makes an angle of 30 ° with the beam. The magnitude of the gravitational force of the gonze that supports the beam is approximately: Using...

    A 325 kg uniform square sign, 2/00 m on a side, is hung from a 3.00 m rod of negligible mass. A cable is attached to the end of the rod to a point on the wall 4.00 m above the point where the rod is fixed to the wall (see the figure). What is the tension in the cable? What is the horizontal component of the force exerted by the wall on the rod? What is the vertical compound...
