Question

1. A sphere of uniform charge density py and radius a is centered on the z-axis. Determine the electric field along the on the z-axis at z a if the upper portion of the sphere is removed for z> a/2. Do this by dividing the sphere into disks and summing (integrating) the contribution from each disk. Can Gausss law be used in this case?
