\bar x = \sum x / n = 26 / 6 = 4.3

s =  \sqrt\sum(x - \bar x)2 / n - 1  

= \sqrt(2 - 4.3)2 + (3 - 4.3)2 + (7 - 4.3)2​​​​​​​ + (5 - 4.3)2​​​​​​​ + (1 - 4.3)2​​​​​​​ + (8 - 4.3)2​​​​​​​ / 6 - 1

= \sqrt39.3333 / 5

= 2.8

sample standard deviation = 2.8

b)

Median is the middle most observations in the data when observations are arranged in increasing or decreasing

order of their values.

Median = (3 + 5) / 2 = 4
