Answer #2

Hello, here is your answer:

a) First let's calculate the capacity per second of 100 Mbit link in bytes:

Total capasity per second = 100 * 1000000 / 8 = 12500000 bytes.

Now, the percentage of SNMP responses in the total traffic is [ (100 * 40) / 12500000 ] * 100% = 0.032 %

b) Here, as in a previous example, let's calculate the total capasity per second in bytes first:

Total capasity per second = (128 * 1000) / 8 = 16000 bytes

Now, the percentage of SNMP responses in the total traffic is  [ (100 * 40) / 16000 ] * 100% = 25%

c) From the answers above we can conclude that this amount of SNMP traffic is neglectible on large Link capacities (which 100 Mbps is), but it can result in big overhead over the small capacity Links (Such as 128 Kbps)

Tig. 1 2. Consider the scenario shown below where (from the bottom up), you notice three hosts and a local logging server (that stores information that is sent to it) are connected to a router and to each other by a 100 Mbps link, with a near-zero ms propagation delay. That router in turn is connected to another router over a 30 Mbps link with a 50 ms propagation delay, and that latter router is connected to two remote logging...

What happens to the time when the message is segmented? Network delay and throughput 4. [20 pts.] In a packet-switched network, the source host segments a long message into smaller packets and sends the packets into the network. The receiver then reassembles the packets back into the original message. The figure below illustrates the end-to-end transport of a message: (a) without message segmentation, and (b) with message segmentation. Assume the following: message size is M 8 × 106 bits, transmission...
