Answer #1

(a) According to given information the equation is

f(t)=258.4 - 0.3t {where t is define year as t is 0 for 1970, 2 for 1972 }

(b) for 1994 t is 24

put the value in equation

f(24)=258.4 - 0.3*24

f(24)=258.4 - 7.2

f(24)=251.2

for 1998 t is 28

f(28)=258.4 - 0.3*28

f(28)= 258.4 - 8.4

f(28)=250

(c) for death rate 100

100=258.4 - 0.3*t

0.3*t=258.4 - 100

0.3*t=158.4

t=158.4/0.3

t=528

when t 528 mean year 2498 death rate is 100
