Answer #1

a) Here , it is given that

R\propto 1/r^4

So, as r is reduced, 1/r^4 increases and R increases.

b) The equation for pressure gives that

\Delta P\propto 1/r^4

So, as r reduces, 1/r^4 increases and the pressure difference increases.

c) It is given that

R\propto 1/r^4

So,

R'/R = (r /r')^4

Here, r' = r/3

r/r' = 3

So,

R'/R = 3^4 = 81

So,

R' = R x 81

For the change in pressure also, the relation is same.

So,

\Delta P' = \Delta P *81

d) For a healthy adult, the pressure difference is 85 mm Hg

So,

using the equation above,

\Delta P' = \Delta P *81 = 85*81 = 6885 mm Hg

    13. (a) The cylindrical walls of a vessel of outer radius R and wall thickness (t <<R) are made of an isotropic linear elastic material with modulus E and Poisson's ratio v. The end caps are rigid. If the vessel is empty (zero gage pressure), the vessel fits precisely (without any stress) inside a rigid frictionless well. A pressurized fuel is introduced in the vessel so that the internal gage pressure in the vessel is now P. For these conditions...

    Please read the article and answer about questions. You and the Law Business and law are inseparable. For B-Money, the two predictably merged when he was negotiat- ing a deal for his tracks. At other times, the merger is unpredictable, like when your business faces an unexpected auto accident, product recall, or government regulation change. In either type of situation, when business owners know the law, they can better protect themselves and sometimes even avoid the problems completely. This chapter...

    10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
