Synaptic boutons are also known as terminal boutons. These are the distal terminations of the branches of an axon. Calcium ions trigger a biochemical cascade which results in vesicles fusing with the presynaptic membrane and releasing their contents to the synaptic cleft.

Each sarcomeres contains two types of myofilaments. They are thin and thick filaments.

The thin filament composed of actin ,troponin and tropomyosin whereas thick filaments composed of myosin filaments.
