*Common name is Asian elephant or Indian elephant

*Bilateral symmetry

*Elephant is the largest mammal in land and it is usually black in colour. The distinctive features are tusk, trunk, large ears, massive legs etc.

*They are normally found in parts of South Saharian Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia.

*It survives in habitats like forest, marshes, deserts and savannahs.

*Asian Elephants are endagered animals. This is due to the vast Ivory trade as elephnts are killed for their Ivory tusk.

*The major foods consumed by elephants are tree barks, grasses, small plants, bushes,fruits, roots etc.

*Elephants has very sensitive trunks which can smell danger from a distance.Its trunk is used mainly for the purpose of protection from predators .

*The long nosea or trunk, large floppy ears are some unique features of an elephant.
