It helps to compact the sediments grains through the pressure of above layers. In burial process cementation is also occurred in rock through the deposited minerals.

Diagenesis is a process which happens during and after lithification. By this process sediments become hard and chemical, physical and biological process works on sediment which helps to form a well sedimentary rock.
