Answer #1

Ans.1) Option D : ATP dependent

Explanation : ATP hydrolysis leads to production of ADP +Pi and also energy is released . This energy is used in diassembly of F-actin, also ATP guides the whole process of F- actin polymerisation from G- actin. This process is called treadmilling.

Ans.2) Option E : Actin is the most abundant cytoplasmic protein in many cell types

Explantion: Actin is found in all eukaryotic cells and are invloved in wide range of cell function like cell division, intracellular transportation, etc.

An explanation would be appreciated. Thank you! Compared to the normal situation, in which actin monomers carry ATP, what do you predict would happen if actin monomers that bind a nonhydrolyzable form of ATP were incorporated into actin filaments? (a) Actin filaments would grow longer. (b) Actin filaments would grow shorter because depolymerization would be enhanced. (c) Actin filaments would grow shorter because new monomers could not be added to the filaments. (d) No change, as addition of monomers binding...

Which of the following statements is true? A) Profilin delivers G-actin monomers to the (-) end of an existing F-actin filament.     B) Filamin bind to filament ends, promoting a change in their length     C) Profilin decreases exchange of ADP for ATP on G-actin monomers     D) Thymosin-β4 binds G-actin to provide reserve actin

    10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
