Answer #1

Answer:

moon doesn't subside because earth exerts gravity perpendicular to the direction of velocity of moon. so this force produce centripetal acc and moon moves in circular orbit round the earth.

gravitaional force = mass of moon x centripetal acc.

GMm / R^2 = mv^2 / R

thus moon into a fix orbit of radius R.

Option( C) is correct. The gravitational force provides the required centripetal force for the moon to have its tangential speed around the earth.

Note: As per HOMEWORKLIB RULES only one question can be answered. So i answered the 1st one .if you want 2nd one answer please post to another windows.THANKS.

The region around the Earth is filling up with space junk such as old satellites. One idea for cleaning up space involves using sails that create drag (see figure below) Perhaps one day satellites will be equipped with sails that are deployed at the end of their missions. The NASA mission NanoSail-D was launched in 2010 to test this idea. This problem compares the drag on a solar sail due to the Earth's upper atmosphere with the force exerted on...

Which of the following statements are true? Because the Earth has mass it produces gravity. There is no gravity at the space station I need to do work to move a satellite from lower to higher orbit.
