as +ve charged rod is kept near conducting sphere and it is connected to ground.

rod will attrat electrons hence excess electrons will stored in sphere from ground.

when sphere is disconnected from ground then electrons will retain.

and sphere will becomes -ve charged.

when it placed near conducting plane then repel electrons from plane thus making +vely charged and then sphere will attract plane.
