Fire in energized electric equipment is designated as 'Class C' class of fire.The nonconductive extinguishers agents used can be CO2 , dry powder (chemical) and fire suppression agent NOVEC 1230 can also be used.The reason for such energized electric equipment Class C fire may start from overloading of electrical equipment or short circuit in circuitry . Water based agents should never be used to suppress this Class C fire in electric equipments, since water will conduct current and can give electric shock to the person operating to suppress the fire. When such electric energised fires occur try to disconnect electric connection to the equipment along with suppression of the fire.
