UML NETWORK DESIGN DIAGRAM

Problem definition:

When members join a health club, they pay a fee for a certain length of time. Most memberships are for one year but there are some memberships for six months, three months, or even monthly. There is a joining fee for first-time memberships (not renewals). Throughout the year, the club offers a variety of discounts such as joining fee waiver for those joining in January or three months free for those renewing for the first time or two members for the price of one for those joining in July. You can even have 20% off for those willing to commit to a contract longer than a year. The manager wants a system to track club usage and generate reports to reward heavy users with discount incentives.

Design a low level network for the system. New member and renewal records are created by the membership staff on local area computers. All data are stored at a server at headquarters. Club usage data by members is monitored by members scanning their membership cards as they enter and exit the club. Members can check their usage records and due amounts using web-based access. Local club staff can print out usage reports.

What you should do:

Use Microsoft Visio (or any diagramming software) to draw a network model diagram of the system described above.

NOTE: You are looking for the Network devices and communication media (lines and wireless) and how they are laid out. It is therefore important to ignore details that are not applicable to Physical Layer Design in the problem definition. You will experience this phenomenon when you join the computing profession that users give you more details than you need for your design. It becomes your responsibility to filter out the non-essentials.
