If you are doing a qualitative study or a quantitative study, how do the variables or phenomenon addressed in your study inform the method, design, research questions, and data collection instrument to be used? What are two instruments that might be used to gather data for your study? Why do you believe these instruments will gather the appropriate data to answer the research questions and address the problem?

As I am looking deeper into methodologies, I will be using a mixed methodology to explore the data surrounding the dependency of public assistance with a narrative from a selected sample to discuss their reason, concerns, and issues surrounding their continued need to maintain benefits. The research questions are still pending due to the change, but the questions will link to reasons for dependency, lack of social assistance, and how these factors contribute to longer than needed dependency factors. Two instruments that I may use are statical data through interviews used in prior studies and questionnaires to gather more information from participants with predetermined questions. The use of interviews and questionnaires allows for data to be pulled and used to offer a narrative that can give two varied points of reference for data collected (Altenbuchner, Haug, Mohr, Scorna, & Weber, 2018)I believe they will gather the information needed as the narrative will be based on the responses from the selected sample. The statistical data will derive from past studies and the current sample which will give more up to data data that can be used for future studies as a comparison from a more current time through interviews conducted.
