4. The relationship between beauty and electoral success is unaffected by including education and occupation as control variables. This is done by keeping them constant throughout the study.

5. ten-question Questionaire or open ended interviews can be used to measure by asking the relevant Questions to female candidates. So operational definition in this case is a given person(female) score on the test or the open ended answers.

6.  how many non-elected candidates that could have been elected if they had had better looks. This hypothetical procedure adds to the relative success of non-elected candidates at the expense of the elected ones.

10. The analysis is based on surveys with photos of political candidates. Altogether, we collected assessments from 20000 respondents.Approx 500 female cndidates can be chosen at random from each city.out of those 500, 250 will be given questionaires and 250 will face open ended questions by the researcher. Each respondent was shown a random selection of photos and was asked to assess the candidates’ beauty, as well as perceived competence, trustworthiness, likability and intelligence. For each survey, we investigate to what extent the candidates’ individual beauty scores (relative to the beauty of competing candidates) are associated with their electoral success.
