Answer #1

1. Tandem mass spectrometry: A technique in an instrumental analysis where two or more mass spectrometers are coupled together using an additional reaction step to increase their abilities to analyze chemical samples. A common use of tandem-MS is the analysis of biomolecules, such as proteins and peptides.

2. MALDI-MS: Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization is an ionization technique that uses a laser energy absorbing matrix to create ions from large molecules with minimal fragmentation.

3. HR-MS: High-Resolution Mass-Spectrometry features both high resolution and high mass accuracy and is a powerful tool for the analysis and quantitation of compounds, determination of elemental compositions, and identification of unknowns.

4. GPC: Gel Permeation Chromatography is a type of size exclusion chromatography (SEC), that separates analytes on the basis of size. The technique is often used for the analysis of polymers.
