We need to start the explanation by first highlighting the fact there is a reason why a teacher is a teacher and a student is a student. If this distinction is vanished, then both their identities get lost. A teacher is ought to demand respect for the position it holds. The relationship that a teacher shares with its colleague is different from what it should, with a student. There needs to be a line drawn. Having said that, you may continue explaining that it is the respect that a teacher commands that enable it to avail cooperation from the students. Such students look up to them and get inspired. Hence when a Teacher is abused verbally you, the identity as an adult assistant gets compromised and so does the identity of the teacher who abuses you. In the bargain, it is the students who pay the price. Hence instead of passing the buck simply to the assistant, it shall make more sense to counsel the student who violates a certain discipline of the system. One degrades one’s own dignity by verbally abusing other adults before the students. The students shall not only carry a wrong impression about the entire matter but prefer to inculcate the same in them, which is certainly not the motive of any educational institution. Besides, it is also highly unprofessional to discuss the teacher-related concerns before the students. It should have been privately dealt and therefore the grievance.
