Answer #1

Answer: (a) lack of a buffer stock of inventory against supply fluctuations.

Explanation: In JIT or Just-in-time inventory system, inventory is not stored at the manufacturing / production facility and is instead ordered only on need basis. The idea is to increase the efficiency of the system by sourcing goods directly from suppliers facility as per the production schedules. However, the primary disadvantage of JIT inventory system is that no buffer stock of raw materials is maintained and therefore, if there is any delay or fluctuations from the supplier end, it may lead into the delay of production of goods.
